Brian Urlacher has talks with Vikings, per report

After 13 seasons with the Bears, could Brian Urlacher join one of Chicago’s NFC North rivals?

Chicago Bears free agent linebacker Brian Urlacher had discussions with the Minnesota Vikings, according to a report from the Chicago Tribune.

Urlacher, who is a free agent for the first time after 13 seasons with Chicago, has also drawn interest from the Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys. According to the report from Mike Mulligan, a Vikings source confirmed the discussions and said Minnesota is monitoring the situation although the Vikings still expect Urlacher to return to the Bears. Urlarcher could be a fit in Minnesota if the Vikings lose linebacker Jasper Brinkley to free agency.

Although the Vikings may expect Urlacher to return to Chicago, the Bears are yet to respond to a two-year contract proposal presented by Urlarcher’s agents last week. Urlacher is reportedly seeking a contract worth roughly $5.5 million per season, an amount Mulligan said the Bears are unlikely to pay.

Bears general manager Phil Emery said the organization has approached Urlacher about a return and are yet to come to a conclusion in contract talks. Urlacher started 12 games for Chicago last season, finishing with 68 total tackles.
