NFL free agency roundup: LaRon Landry to the Colts, Derek Cox to San Diego and more

The Colts continued to be one of the most active teams in free agency, agreeing to a four-year deal with safety LaRon Landry late Wednesday night. Landry made the Pro Bowl in his one season with the New York Jets, then parlayed that performance into a four-year deal with Indianapolis worth a reported $24 million.

While the Colts added Landry, they lost cornerback Jerraud Powers, who signed with the Arizona Cardinals. Powers started for four seasons in Indianapolis and is now expected to start opposite of Patrick Peterson after agreeing to a three-year deal with Arizona. The Cardinals also added safety Yeremiah Bell on Thursday, giving their secondary a new look. Arizona wasn't done, however, as the Cardinals added former Redskins linebacker and special teams standout Lorenzo Alexander.

Powers wasn't the only cornerback to come off the market as former Jacksonville Jaguar Derek Cox agreed to a four-year deal with San Diego. The 26-year-old Cox had some injury issues during his career with the Jaguars, but proved to be an emerging player when healthy. His deal with San Diego is worth $20 million, including $10.25 million guaranteed. Former Eagles cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is also headed to the AFC West, agreeing to a one-year deal with the Denver Broncos. Rodgers-Cromartie had a disappointing end to his Philadelphia career, but is still just 26 years old and was once one of the up-and-coming cornerbacks in the NFL.

The Redskins have limited salary cap space, but that didn't stop them from adding another player to their competition at right tackle. Washington signed former Tampa Bay tackle Jeremy Trueblood on Thursday. Trueblood spent the first seven seasons of his career with Tampa Bay and is now expected to compete with Tony Pashos, Tom Compton and Maurice Hurt for the starting right tackle position.
