Baltimore Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta has been ascending as a consistent threat in the current Super Bowl champions' passing game, but as he enters restricted free agency, according to a report from Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun on Friday, Pitta's services could be tempting other NFL teams into making an offer.

Baltimore can match any offer made to their tight end, but it could depend on how badly a team out there might want him.
Wilson reports that Pitta received a second-round tender of $2.023 million before the craziness that is free agency got underway. Basically, since he’s a restricted free agent, the Ravens have the opportunity to match any offer made to Pitta from another team -- Wilson notes that no offers have yet been made, however -- but if they were to decline matching a potential offer, Baltimore would receive a second-round draft pick instead.
If it hypothetically happened, it wouldn't be shocking to see Pitta garnering the interest of another franchise. In 2012, he caught 61 passes for 669 yards and seven touchdowns -- good for second-most on the team behind wide receiver Torrey Smith's eight scoring grabs.
Extra spending money could be sparse for the Ravens, Wilson writes, and the team has already dealt or let a handful of key contributors go this offseason. If somebody wants Pitta badly enough, it should be interesting to see the value Baltimore places on one of quarterback Joe Flacco's preferred safety valves on the field.
