Florida State pro day 2013: Workouts begin March 19

Bjoern Werner headlines the group of Florida State prospects this year. Let’s take a look at who will be on display for the Seminoles pro day.

The Florida State Seminoles will hold their pro day on March 19, with 14 players ready to show of their skills to the NFL scouts on hand. A huge draft class out of Tallahassee will have us hearing Seminole names called often at the end of April.

Bjoern Werner and Xavier Rhodes are looking like potential top 10 picks for this year’s draft. With strong showings at their pro day, the two could ensure a top selection.

Here are a few of the notable names set to take the field today.

Bjoern Werner, DE

Werner’s 4.83 time in the 40 at the Combine was solid, but he can improve on it. Mocking the Draft has him going to the Titans at No. 10 overall right now. He just needs to put in another decent workout at his pro day and prepare to get paid.

Xavier Rhodes, CB

Rhodes is shooting up draft boards after his showing in Indianapolis. His 4.43 40 turned heads, along with his 40.5 inch vertical and 132 inch broad jump. He’s a tremendous athlete with great size. Rhodes will be taken early.

Menelik Watson, OT

He didn’t blow anyone away with his Combine workouts, but he didn’t hurt his stock. An impressive pro day could continue speculation about him becoming a late first-round pick.

E.J. Manuel, QB

Manuel’s 4.65 40 was the second-fastest among quarterbacks, only behind Geno Smith. The rest of his measurables showed off his athleticism, and if he impresses scouts with his arm at Florida State’s pro day, he could work his way into Round 2.

Tank Carradine, DE

He’s still recovering from knee surgery, so we’ll see how much he can do in his pro day workout. Carradine’s 28 bench reps looked good. Proving he’s healthy is the biggest concern for the defensive end.

Brandon Jenkins, OLB

Another player in the recovery stages, Jenkins suffered the dreaded Lisfranc injury this past season. He’s right there with Carradine attempting to prove he can get back to the form he was in prior to going down.
