The Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys are set to play in the NFL Hall of Fame Game to kick off the 2013 preseason, the Dolphins confirmed on Tuesday. The team's official website broke the news for the game, which is set for 8 p.m. ET on Aug. 4.

The Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys will play in this year’s NFL Hall of Fame Game to kick off the 2013 preseason.

Each year (when a lockout is not involved), two teams play a game at Fawcett Stadium in Canton, Ohio to coincide with that year’s enshrinees into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The game is played one day after the newest class is formally inducted into the Hall.
It's likely that the event will tie into some nice ceremony for the Cowboys in particular, as they have two particularly strong ties to two of the Class of 2013 inductees. Guard Larry Allen is possibly the best offensive linemen in Dallas history and one of the most dominating blockers of all time. He played with the Cowboys from 1994-2005.
Then there’s Bill Parcells, who spent four seasons with the Cowboys as coach from 2003-06. He didn’t see a whole lot of success there, but it’s a better connection than Parcells’ connection to the Dolphins. He was the team’s Executive Vice President of Football Operations from 2007-10.
Allen and Parcells will be joined by wide receiver Cris Carter, defensive tackles Warren Sapp and Caurley Cuip, linebacker Dave Robinson and offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden.
