Jacksonville Jaguars sign center Brad Meester

The Jaguars have agreed to terms with free agent center Brad Meester, bringing him back to Jacksonville for a 14th season.

For the 14th straight season, Brad Meester will be starting for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2013. The Jags signed Meester, who was a free agent, to a new contract on Tuesday according to Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union.

Meester has been with Jacksonville since they selected him in the second round out of Northern Iowa in the 2000 NFL Draft. In 13 seasons he has started all 193 games he has played. Over the past four years he has not missed a game, missing only a total of 15 during his career. He played at left guard for his first three seasons before moving to his natural position of center.

Jacksonville needs to improve its offensive line to help get their offense back on track. Last year they let up 50 sacks, the third-most in the league, and averaged only 3.8 yards per carry, sixth-worst in the league. At 35, it was speculated that Meester would consider retirement, but he is back for at least one more season in an attempt to turn things around in Jacksonville.
