Cowboys guard Mackenzy Bernadeau has offseason surgery

Dallas is hoping for a healthier year out of Bernadeau, who was hampered last season with various injuries.

The Dallas Cowboys had some very well-documented struggles last year on its offensive line, and are hoping this year will be different. One reason it could be would is better health with guard Mackenzy Bernadeau, but he has already had surgery to fix his right shoulder, according to the Dallas Morning News.

The surgery shouldn’t cause Bernadeau to miss any real playing time, with doctors and team officials believing he could be back for OTA’s in May.

Last year, Bernadeau had multiple surgeries, one to shore up his hip and another to work on a balky knee. Both procedures were done in the offseason, allowin him to play all 16 games. His performance was never up to his standards though, likely a byproduct of not being able to prepare correctly in the spring and summer.

All of this coming after Bernadeau signed a 4-year/$11 million contract with the Cowboys to start on the interior of a young offensive line.
