Brad Jones re-signs with Packers, per report

Sources say linebacker Brad Jones will return to Green Bay after a productive season.

Jeff Hanisch-US PRESSWIRE

It's not often that seventh-round picks in the NFL manage to make it to a second contract, and it's even rarer when the team re-signing that player is one of the best in the league. Brad Jones isn't living the typical life. Jones has re-signed with the Green Bay Packers, according to reports, meaning he will return to pursue another Super Bowl title with the team that picked him with the 218th pick in the 2009 draft.

Jones started ten games at middle linebacker last season, recording 77 tackles and two sacks for Green Bay. The former Colorado linebacker started seven games as a rookie in 2009, totaling four sacks, but has now finally emerged as a regular on defense next to the likes of Clay Matthews and A.J. Hawk. How many years and for how many millions of dollars Jones signed for is not yet known, but just making it into his fifth year in the league is quite an accomplishment for any player that managed to fall past over 200 other players in the draft.

Now, he will get to stick with the Packers and keep playing for a chance to win another ring. It also gives the Packers one fewer positional need to worry about.
