New Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman spoke about a number of topics in Arizona on Wednesday, including quarterback Jay Cutler's mechanics. Trestman said he watched a lot of Cutler's film and noted that while Cutler's mechanics were fine in many instances, they could be more consistent:
Bears coach Marc Trestman wants Jay Cutler to improve mechanics
Trestman believes Jay Cutler can be more consistent with his throwing technique.

“He has the ability to have precision mechanics, high-level mechanics,” Trestman said. “At times, he has them. And at times, he doesn’t. But that would be [true] for anybody in the league.”
Cutler at times is prone to throw off of his back foot, and there are other areas in which his technique is sometimes lacking. Trestman said that quarterbacks at any age have room to improve their mechanics, adding that “Jay has the ability and the skill set to be very, very good at the mechanics all the time.”
Cutler completed 58.8 percent of his throws last season for 3,033 yards, 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. In four seasons with Chicago, he has thrown a total of 63 interceptions, including a career-worst 26 in 2009. More consistent mechanics could help him cut down on those mistakes.
