Elvis Dumervil rumors: Dolphins pursuing defensive end, according to report

The Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens have already offered Elvis Dumervil, and now the Miami Dolphins are apparently trying to sign the Pro Bowl pass-rusher.

If you thought the Elvis Dumervil situation needed more ambiguity, here's some: with the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens already in the hunt for the defensive end, a third team is now in the mix, although it's not clear if the Miami Dolphins have offered him a contract.

The last we heard, Dumervil -- the best free agent available, per SB Nation’s Adam Stites -- was visiting other teams when the Broncos’ offer reportedly underwhelmed the 29-year-old pass-rusher. Friday, Denver Post reporter Mike Klis had this to say:

The Dolphins have already made a big splash on the free agent market, landing Mike Wallace amongst others. They've already landed linebackers in Dannell Ellerbe and Philip Wheeler, but they're inside and strongside guys, respectively, and neither provides the pass rush that Dumervil does.

Dumervil, a Pro Bowler the past three seasons, has spent his entire career with Denver, recording 11 sacks and forcing six fumbles last season. There's a chance he goes to the Ravens, who have reportedly offered him a contract, as they look to fill a pass-rushing hole with the departure of Paul Kruger, but they might not have money to offer him after signing Joe Flacco's contract in the wake of their Super Bowl win.
