The Chicago Bears bolstered their offensive line depth on Monday, agreeing to a one-year deal with offensive tackle Jonathan Scott.
Bears sign Jonathan Scott
After starting seven games for Chicago last season, Jonathan Scott will be back with the Bears next season.
The Bears, who announced the move on Twitter, will bring Scott back for a second season in Chicago. In his first season with the Bears, Scott appeared in 12 games, including seven starts. With Chicago signing left tackle Jermon Bushrod earlier in free agency, Scott will likely play a backup role. He played right tackle most of last season, but played left tackle earlier in his career and has the versatility to backup either spot. With Bushrod at left tackle, J'Marcus Webb is expected to start at right tackle.
The 30-year-old Scott played a larger role down the stretch for the Bears last season, including seven starts in Chicago's final eight games.. Originally a fifth round pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2006 NFL Draft, Scott has also played for the Lions, Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers.
