James Harrison rumors: Interest level remains low

The interest level surrounding free agent linebacker James Harrison is low as it appears he is at least a week away from visiting any teams.

Free agent linebacker James Harrison is drawing little to no interest from around the NFL. Action won't increase for Harrison this week as he's not expected to make visits to any teams until next week at the earliest according to Ian Rapoport. At one point it was thought he could return to Pittsburgh at a reduced rate, but even the Steelers have ruled out signing Harrison according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The Steelers released Harrison on March 9, and thus far, he has experienced one of the slowest free agency periods among anyone. He was scheduled to make $6.57 million prior to being cut, but the interest level surrounding the 34-year-old linebacker shows he'll earn far less on the open market. As reported Monday, Harrison was called the "coldest name" at the NFL meetings by Peter King, with no teams expressing any interest in the one-time Defensive Player of the Year.

The interest level remains low following the meetings, with Rapoport’s report showing that no teams even care to bring Harrison in for an interview this week. Most teams looking to add an 3-4 outside linebacker have already done so, making it hard to guess when, if ever, teams will turn to Harrison.
