Michael Huff rumors: Visits Cowboys, Ravens and Packers up next

Free agent safety Michael Huff met with the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday, and is planning to visit with the Ravens and Packers next.

Free agent safety Michael Huff had a good meeting with the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday, but said he would not wait for the Cowboys to free up enough salary cap space to sign him. Next up for Huff are meetings with the Baltimore Ravens and Green Bay Packers according to Brandon George.

Dallas needs to create cap space before they can sign any more free agents, as they have just $102,000 remaining. They are attempting to sign Tony Romo and Anthony Spencer to extensions that would open significant cap room.

Huff, 30, has spent all seven of his NFL seasons with the Raiders before being released this offseason. He started at safety last season, but injuries forced him to move over to cornerback for much of the season. In 2012 he totaled 56 tackles, 13 passes defended and two interceptions.

Teams looking to sign Huff would bring him in as a safety, a position of need for the Cowboys, but the versatility to play corner is certainly a plus. Huff had a good meeting with Dallas, and grew up in the area, but would not wait around to see if cap space became available. Instead he is headed to Baltimore and Green Bay, both of whom are in need of replacing their starting safeties. The Ravens lost both Ed Reed and Bernard Pollard, while the Packers parted ways with Charles Woodson.
