Arian Foster has a new lead blocker as the Texans signed fullback Greg Jones on Wednesday. Somewhere, Maurice Jones-Drew is not very happy.
Jones, who will fill the role as Arian Foster's lead blocker, comes to Houston after nine seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Texans were in the market for a new starting fullback after former starter James Casey signed with the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this offseason.
The 31-year-old Jones has never been voted to a Pro Bowl, but is considered to be one of the best blocking fullbacks in the NFL. Jones spent the last few seasons blocking for Maurice Jones-Drew who was not thrilled with the possibility of Jones leaving.

In addition to his blocking prowess, Jones could also be an effective short yardage runner for the Texans. SB Nation’s Texans blog, Battle Red Blog, noted that Jones has had success in short-yardage and goalline situations earlier in his career, including in 2005 when he recorded 10 rushing touchdowns.
