Vaughn Martin agrees to deal with Dolphins, according to agent

Miami added a piece to its defensive line with a signing on Thursday.

Free agent defensive tackle Vaughn Martin will be joining the Miami Dolphins, according to Adam Caplan of The Sideline View and confirmed by the player's agent. Martin will be entering his fifth season in 2013 and spent the first four years of his career with the San Diego Chargers.

Martin was originally drafted in the fourth round by the Chargers in 2009 out of Western Ontario. He was used sparingly his first two seasons, playing in 20 games without recording a start and amassing just 12 tackles. Martin broke out in 2011, as he played in all 16 games with 15 starts. In that time he tallied 47 tackles and a sack. 2012 saw Martin make 12 starts with 19 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble.

This is the second free-agent signing by Miami in as many days. The club inked offensive guard Lance Louis to a one-year deal, and Kevin Nogle of Dolphins blog The Phinsider believes he will slot in as the starting right guard. Nogle adds that the team should still be on the lookout for a right tackle, cornerback, and defensive end in free agency.
