Carson Palmer's Oakland career appears to be nearing an end, but reports are conflicting as to where Palmer could wind up next.
Raiders close to trading Carson Palmer to Cardinals, per report
One report suggests the Raiders are close to dealing Carson Palmer to the Cardinals while another said it would be a surprise if Palmer ends up in Arizona. Who knows!
According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Arizona Cardinals are nearing a deal to acquire Palmer. That report, however, goes against a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter who said it would be a "real surprise" to people around the league if Arizona acquired Palmer.
Despite signing Drew Stanton and Brian Hoyer this offseason, the Cardinals still have an unsettled quarterback situation. Palmer could potentially be an upgrade and would seemingly fit well in Bruce Arians' downfield passing attack. Arians, however, has spoken highly of Stanton since Arizona signed him. Furthermore, with Palmer's contract a potential obstacle, the Cardinals may shy away from a deal.
After refusing to take a pay cut from his $13 million 2013 salary, Palmer wasn't expected to remain in Oakland long. His departure could come sooner rather than later as the Raiders are reportedly close to acquiring Seahawks quarterback Matt Flynn.
