Terence Newman agrees to terms, re-signs with Bengals

Terence Newman must have found his agent, because he’s reportedly headed back to Cincinnati.

Free agent cornerback Terence Newman is reportedly headed back to Cincinnati after announcing he would return to the Bengals on Twitter.

According to a report from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Newman's agreement with Cincinnati is a two-year deal worth $5 million. Newman, who is expected to sign his deal in the next few days, will make $3 million in the first year of the deal. In addition to the Bengals, Newman also drew interest from the Oakland Raiders.

Despite a bigger offer from the Raiders, Newman is returning to Cincinnati in large part due to Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer. Zimmer was Newman's defensive coordinator for three years in Dallas before the two reunited last season in Cincinnati. After nine seasons with the Cowboys, Newman signed a one-year deal with the Bengals last season. He finished the season with 75 tackles, 10 pass deflections and two interceptions.

According to Spotrac, Newman signed a one-year deal worth $825,000 last season, so his new contract is a significant raise.
