NFL free agency 2013 rumors: Sean Smith hearing from 3-5 teams already

With free agency rumors flying Saturday morning, there are allegedly 3-5 teams interested in cornerback Sean Smith. The Dolphins chose not to tag the fifth year cornerback, and despite heavy saturation of veteran defensive backs, he still may command top dollar in free agency.

A tweet from Miami Herald reporter Adam Beasley marks "between three and five teams" as interested in free agent cornerback Sean Smith.

Rotoworld mentioned Kansas City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Tampa Bay and Detroit as five teams potentially interested, although Pro Football Talk is reporting the Chiefs backed out, since they signed Dunta Robinson.

Smith started every game for the Dolphins over the last two seasons, and could command $7 million per season in free agency.

With a stacked market for defensive backs, particularly veterans, younger cornerbacks like Smith could be in flux; teams with a need at the position may go with a more accomplished player for less money, like Kansas City did with Robinson.

Philadelphia let CB Domonique Rodgers-Cromarie walk in free agency, and isn't expected back. They are also expecting to release CB Nnamdi Asomugha after two years into a huge deal signed before the 2011 season.

The Lions are looking to bolster their secondary as well, and while they may be looking for more a safety, getting an additional cornerback wouldn't be a radical idea.

The Buccaneers have more salary cap space than the gross domestic product of some third world countries, and they're also looking to add help in their secondary.

They may be the only team legitimately able to make a run at Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis, who’s allegedly available via trade for the right price, and a contract extension.
