The Tampa Bay Buccaneers added some running back depth on Monday, agreeing to a one-year deal with free agent Brian Leonard, according to Leonard's agent Mike McCartney.

Brian Leonard will reunite with his former college coach Greg Schiano in Tampa Bay, after signing a one-year deal.

Leonard, who spent the previous four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, will reunite with Greg Schiano. Schiano coached Leonard during his college career at Rutgers. After having considerable success as a feature running back in college, Leonard has been utilized mostly as a third-down back in the NFL.
He’s proven to be a capable receiver out of the backfield, racking up 113 receptions during his career. As Sander Philipse of Bucs Nation wrote, Leonard was also played a significant special teams role in Cincinnati and could do the same with Tampa Bay. Leonard’s arrival in Tampa Bay could also spell the end of LeGarrette Blount’s Bucs career.
Blount signed a one-year contract earlier this offseason, but has been rumored to be on his way out of Tampa Bay, even before Leonard’s signing. The Bucs have reportedly been shopping Blount on the trade market for weeks and could end up releasing him if they are unable to find a trade partner.
