Bengals rumors: Felix Jones has ‘50/50’ chance of landing with Cincinnati

After working out Felix Jones on Monday, the Cincinnati Bengals reportedly have a 50/50 chance of signing the free-agent running back.

The Cincinnati Bengals worked out former Dallas Cowboys running back Felix Jones on Monday -- and Cincinnati is considering signing the free-agent running back. It's no guarantee that the Bengals will sign Jones, however, and the Cincinnati's Enquirer's Joe Reedy believes the team has a 50/50 chance of landing the 25-year-old.

Jones appeared in all 16 of Dallas’ games in 2012, but was used sparingly. He carried the ball 111 times for 402 yards, good for an average of 3.6 yards per carry. Jones caught 25 passes for 262 yards, and he had five touchdowns in total for the season.

Cincinnati is looking for a third-down back to pair with starting running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis, and Jones could be a fit for the Bengals. Though a disappointment in Dallas, he was once an electric running back and possesses pass-catching ability out of the backfield, a prerequisite for third-down running backs in today's NFL.

If Jones can get himself in shape -- and stay in shape -- he could be a valuable third-down piece.
