Rolando McClain agrees to terms with Ravens on one-year deal, per report

The Baltimore Ravens have reached an agreement with free-agent linebacker Rolando McClain.

The Baltimore Ravens and free-agent linebacker Rolando McClain have reached an agreement worth $700,000, according to Ian Rapoport. The deal won't be finalized until Friday when McClain takes his physical. He is also going to meet with head coach John Harbaugh and general manager Ozzie Newsome to discuss their expectations of him.

The Ravens were in need of help at the linebacker position after losing Ray Lewis to retirement and Dannell Ellerbe and Paul Kruger to free agency and McClain, a former first-round pick, could help rebuild the team's defense. The two were reportedly come to terms on a deal earlier on Wednesday. McClain has made 246 tackles, 6.5 sacks, a safety and an interception in his three years with the Raiders.

He had originally signed a five-year deal worth $40 million, however, after he was kicked out of practice for undisclosed reasons in November of 2012, he took to Twitter and Facebook, saying he wished to play anywhere else other than Oakland, effectively ending his career with the Raiders.

McClain may lack sideline-to-sideline speed, but he makes a lot of plays between the tackles and has a nose for the ball. He should help the Ravens maintain their reputation for stout defense even after they lost two future Hall of Fame players and several others.
