Despite reports to the contrary, the Oakland Raiders are not signing free-agent quarterback Seneca Wallace in the near-future, according to The San Francisco Chronicle's Vic Tafur.
NFL free agent rumors: Raiders reportedly won’t sign Seneca Wallace
The Oakland Raiders are not signing free-agent quarterback Seneca Wallace, despite reports to the contrary.
Oakland recently traded away Carson Palmer, its starting quarterback of the last two years, to the Arizona Cardinals, and acquired Matt Flynn from the Seattle Seahawks. Flynn is expected to win the starting job, but will compete with Terrelle Pryor throughout the offseason.
The Raiders would like to add a third quarterback to the competition, but apparently, Wallace is not the answer.
Wallace spent the 2012 season out of the NFL, after spending the 2010 and 2011 seasons with the Cleveland Browns. Wallace was drafted in the fourth round of the 2003 NFL Draft out of Iowa State by the Seattle Seahawks, and spent the first five seasons of his NFL career with Seattle.
Oakland has also been linked to free-agent quarterback Tyler Thigpen, who spent the last two seasons with the Buffalo Bills.
