NFL free-agent news tracker: Honey Badger isn’t good at drug tests, Steelers undecided on Emmanuel Sanders and more

Tyrann Mathieu, Rolando McClain, Emmanuel Sanders and others highlighted Friday in the National Football League.

Friday's NFL news featured reports on Tyrann Mathieu's failed drug tests, Rolando McClain's joining the Ravens and on the Steelers' decision of what to do about Emmanuel Sanders.

Here are some of the stories you may have missed on Friday:

Tyrann Mathieu, also known as Honey Badger, reportedly failed 10 drug tests while he was at LSU, according to USA Today. Mathieu missed out on the 2012 college season after being dismissed from LSU, but it still one of the more intriguing prospects in this year’s draft class. He is an extremely talented defensive back and has drawn some interest from numerous NFL teams.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have no plans to trade Maurice Jones-Drew, according to the team’s general manager, Dave Caldwell. Jones-Drew has been the team’s primary source of offensive production over the last few years. He missed the majority of the team’s games in 2012, though.

The Houston Texans re-signed inside linebacker Tim Dobbins on Friday. This will be Dobbins' third season with the Texans, and the inside linebacker stepped in for Brian Cushing when the starter tore his ACL in Week 5 against the New York Jets. The Texans need depth at the linebacker position and Dobbins should help.

The Baltimore Ravens have signed linebacker Rolando McClain. McClain, who was waived by the Oakland Raiders, should help reduce the effect of losing Ray Lewis, Paul Kruger and Dannell Ellerbe to retirement and free agency. McClain, a former first-round pick, will look to improve his reputation around the league with the defending Super Bowl champions.

The Bengals have come to an agreement with running back Bernard Scott. Scott, drafted by the Bengals in 2009, has been a change-of-pace back, running with both Cedric Benson and BenJarvus Green-Ellis in the Bengals' backfield. The Bengals have been rumored to be interested in several running backs in this year's draft class, though re-signing Scott may make them think twice about bringing one in with an early-round pick.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are undecided on what they want to do with Emmanuel Sanders. The wide receiver, who is also a restricted free agent, signed an offer sheet worth $2.5 million with the New England Patriots on Thursday and the Steelers have until Sunday to decide if they will match the offer, or lose Sanders but gain the Patriots' third-round pick in the upcoming draft.

Cornerback Darrelle Revis has resumed running after a season-ending injury that kept him sidelined through the majority of the 2012 season. He will report to the team’s offseason workout program. It’s still unclear as to whether or not Revis will be with the Jets in 2013 and beyond, as the trade rumors involving one of the league’s top cornerbacks are still floating around.
