Hakeem Nicks injury update: Giants WR feels good after knee surgery

Nicks had the worst season of his four-year career in 2012 as he struggled with nagging foot and knee injuries.

New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks is back on the practice field running full speed after an offseason knee surgery, according to Jenny Vrentas of The Newark Star-Ledger.

Nicks, 25, caught a career-low three touchdown passes in 2012 as he battled nagging foot and knee injuries throughout the season. Following the season, Nicks had a scope on his left knee and didn't take long to return to action, as he joined Eli Manning and Victor Cruz for work outs at Duke University earlier in April.

A first-round selection in the 2009 NFL Draft, Nicks accumulated over 1,000 yards receiving in both the 2010 and 2011 season for the Giants with over 70 receptions in each season. He finished 2012 with just 692 yards receiving, the lowest of his four-year career with the team.

Nicks is entering the final season on the five-year deal that he signed as a rookie and is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in the 2014 offseason. Cruz, the leading receiver for the Giants in each of the past two seasons, is also scheduled to reach unrestricted free agency in 2014.

The Giants missed the postseason in 2012, despite finishing with a third-consecutive winning season.
