Jaguars rumors: Mohamed Massaquoi visits Jacksonville

In need of an upgrade to its receiving corps, the Jacksonville Jaguars met with free agent wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi on Monday.

The Jacksonville Jaguars met with free agent wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi on Monday according to Aaron Wilson. Massaquoi spent his first four years in the league with the Cleveland Browns, failing to put up true starter's numbers in four years.

The Browns drafted Massaquoi in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft out of Georgia and he started 11 games as a rookie. During his four years in Cleveland he appeared in 54 games, starting 43 of them. With the Browns he totaled 118 receptions for 1,745 yards and seven touchdowns. In 2012 he finished with 17 receptions for 254 yards and no touchdowns in nine games as he fell behind rookie Josh Gordon on the depth chart.

Jacksonville is likely set at the starting wide receiver position with Justin Blackmon and Cecil Shorts III, but they don't have much depth behind those two. The Jags released Laurent Robinson earlier this offseason, leaving Jordan Shipley as the only other receiver on the roster with significant NFL experience.

Although Massaquoi has proven to be a bit of a bust as a starter on a team lacking offensive weapons in Cleveland, he could serve nicely as a third or fourth receiver if the price is right.
