Jacksonville Jaguars sign Sen’Derrick Marks to 1-year contract

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed free agent defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Marks to a one-year contract on Tuesday.

The Jacksonville Jaguars beefed up their defensive line on Tuesday, signing free agent defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks to a one-year contract according to Mark Long. Marks spent his first four seasons with the Tennessee Titans.

During his time with the Titans, Marks started 26 games, becoming a full-time starter in 2012. Last season he totaled 41 tackles, three passes defended, 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble in 14 games. The Titans selected Marks in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft out of Auburn.

Marks should help improve a Jacksonville defensive line that had been thinning out this offseason. The Jags lost Terrance Knighton to the Broncos and released C.J. Mosley, leaving them with Tyson Alualu and new addition Roy Miller as the only defensive tackles on the roster with NFL starting experience. Jacksonville had expressed interest in Alan Branch as well, but he signed with the Bills earlier on Tuesday, increasing the need for them to sign Marks. The Jaguars were among the worst defenses in the NFL in 2012.
