The New York Jets selected Missouri defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson with the 13th overall pick. It's their second defensive player taken in the draft after picking cornerback Dee Milliner No. 9.
2013 NFL Draft results: Jets double-dip on defense
What do Jets fans have to say about the Jets’ selection of Sheldon Richardson?
Jets fans don’t seem too happy with the pick. Here’s what Gang Green Nation author John B had to say:
Richardson is a guy with potential, albeit unpolished. Sounds interesting, right? I mean if there is one spot where the Jets should have confidence in their coaching developing young talent, it's the defensive line with Karl Dunbar.
The problem is the Jets used their first round pick the last two years on Muhammad Wilkerson and Quinton Coples, guys who play the same position. Richardson profiles to be an end when the Jets play a 3-4 base defense. He profiles as a guy who plays the three technique in the 4-3. This is where Coples and Wilkerson are suited to play.
Where exactly is Richardson going to play? Was he so much better than everybody else on the board that you make a luxury pick at the one spot on the field you have top young talent instead of addressing a position of need with Jarvis Jones or Star Lotulelei let alone the offense?
Still others question the wisdom of drafting two defenders with so many glaring holes on offense:
So the #Jets pick two defensive players, ignoring their offense, ranked 30th in scoring.

There’s still plenty of time left in the draft, but the Jets have made puzzling moves with their two first-rounders.
