NFL people can sometimes seem like the dumbest humans on the planet. There’s just no other way to read this post about how Geno Smith needs to show up at the second round Friday to prove to the world he can handle the pressure.

It’s not the National “Fun” League, and after taking a sack in the first round Thursday night, Geno Smith is standing tall and showing us what kind of man he is.
At a time when quarterback Geno Smith has faced harsh criticism regarding his ability to handle adversity, Smith isn’t handling adversity well.
Indeed. He avoided cameras Thursday and now he’s considering skipping Friday.
It makes you wonder, doesn’t it?

If Smith doesn’t return, he’ll be confirming in the minds of many that he can’t show grit and resolve under pressure. That he’ll sink his head and slump his shoulders when the team is 14 points behind in the third quarter. That he’ll pout if he’s not the starter or if he gets benched. That he’ll complain about the use of too many running plays when he prefers to air it out.
Gritty or ungritty.

So to recap: Geno Smith was underrated, and then there were race-baiting scouting reports, and then he was overrated, and then he went undrafted in the first round. Then, he briefly considered leaving New York City on Friday as he and his family had planned all along, and it somehow became proof that he’s not gritty enough to handle the NFL spotlight and will complain in the third quarter about his coach’s running plays.
Now, down 14 points in the third quarter of his life, GENO IS STANDING TALL.
Is this proof that he’s confirmed gritty and ready to be a leader?
Well shit, I don’t know and neither does anyone else. And just like that, we have witnessed an entire cycle of the NFL scouting process.
