The Houston Texans' two third-round picks, LSU defensive end Sam Montgomery and UNC offensive tackle Brennan Williams, are already dealing with injuries at minicamp. Montgomery strained his back during the Texans' morning session Friday. Williams suffered a knee injury during Saturday's morning practice.

Both of the Texans’ third-round picks in the 2013 NFL Draft are already dealing with injuries.

After some initial worry, neither injury appears to be too serious. While Montgomery was forced to leave the morning practice, he was able to return and participate during the afternoon. An MRI on Williams’ knee, meanwhile, revealed no serious damage, and he is expected to rejoin activities this week.
Both players are competing for playing time this season. Montgomery is a pure defensive end who many have argued would have been a better fit in a 4-3 defense. Few deny his potential, however. The Texans have a lot of bodies along the defensive line with J.J. Watt and Antonio Smith the current starters on each end, but Montgomery could join the rotation.
Williams may be in a better position to start, with Derek Newton, a seventh-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, currently projected atop the depth chart at right tackle.
