Ryan Tannehill impressed with Dolphins offensive additions

After bringing in Mike Wallace, Brandon Gibson and Dustin Keller during the offseason, the Dolphins expect Ryan Tannehill to make a big improvement.

The Miami Dolphins expect Ryan Tannehill to make a big leap from Year One to Year Two. Not only will he be a more experienced quarterback, but the Dolphins have spent the offseason surrounding him with much stronger talent. Tannehill is excited about Mike Wallace in particular.

According to the Miami Herald, Wallace and Tannehill were working on routes together when Tannehill approached the wideout and told him to run half speed.

“I am going half speed,” Wallace responded, according to Tannehill.

“Everything I heard about him coming in has proved to be true - he’s as advertised,” Tannehill said. “He’s the fastest guy I’ve ever thrown to. It’s exciting.”

Despite his relatively pedestrian rookie numbers, Tannehill was actually one of the best quarterbacks in the league throwing the deep ball. He completed 43.1 percent of his passes thrown 20 yards or more, which ranked him seventh in the league. With Wallace in tow, the Dolphins could be explosive this season.

With Brandon Gibson and Dustin Keller also joining Brian Hartline, the Dolphins now have quality short and intermediate passing options, as well. Gibson is coming off a career-best 691 yards receiving on 51 receptions with the St. Louis Rams last season. Tannehill had no shortage of praise for him, either.

“I really like Brandon,” Tannehill said. “He moves well. He’s a really natural pass catcher, catches with his hands [not his body]. Smooth in and out of routes. I’m excited we got him. And he really understands, so that you’re able to make a correction the first time and not worry about it again.”

With the pieces in place for Tannehill, all that’s left is to execute.
