The Jacksonville Jaguars had rookie Denard Robinson running some plays from the quarterback position during organized team activities on Wednesday, according to the Detroit News. Robinson, who was labeled a running back and wide receiver on draft day, didn't seem to be in the team's initial plans at quarterback once they drafted him.

It’s still unclear if he’s a real option at the position or if the Jaguars are trying to work specific plays in for a read option or wildcat formation. When asked, Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley reportedly said, “We don’t have to tell you.”
Robinson is clearly a raw prospect as far as quarterbacks go. He threw for 1,319 yards with nine touchdowns and nine interceptions last season with Michigan, and posted a sub-par completion percentage of 53.3. He’s a very athletic player, and that’s why he was drafted at all. It makes sense for a team like the Jaguars to get someone with so much potential to make things happen on the football field.
But what would happen if Robinson were actually competing for the starting quarterback job? Clearly, Blaine Gabbert will be the favorite, and it's his job to lose. After all, the Jaguars gave him a big vote of confidence when they brought in Luke Joeckel, possibly the best offensive lineman in this past draft, with the No. 2 overall pick, despite already having a quality left tackle in Eugene Monroe.
Gabbert’s stats aren’t all-that encouraging, though. After two seasons in the NFL (25 games), Gabbert has thrown for 3,876 yards, 21 touchdowns against 17 interceptions and has posted a completion percentage of 53.8.
Robinson would have a long, long way to go to compete for a quarterback job, but at the very least, his lining up under center in OTAs means the Jaguars at least want to see what his arm can do.
