Packers sign 2nd-round pick Eddie Lacy

Eddie Lacy agreed to terms with the Packers on Wednesday, leaving just one rookie left to sign in Green Bay from the 2013 NFL Draft class.

USA TODAY Sports

Eddie Lacy has agreed to terms with the Green Bay Packers, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter. The former Alabama running back was selected in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, and is expected to compete for the starting job in the Packers' offensive backfield.

Fellow rookie running back and Green Bay teammate Johnathan Franklin has also signed with the team. The two are arguably the favorites to handle the majority of the rushing load this season. DuJuan Harris and Alex Green are also competing for playing time, but neither back thrived last season when given opportunities to be the Packers' every-down back. Harris has tremendous speed, but his diminutive size may relegate him to third downs. The 225-pound Green could become the team's short-yardage specialist.

Lacy was considered a first-round talent by many, but may have slipped to the second round due to injury concerns. He still has questions about a lingering hamstring injury and a bad big toe. Lacy was very productive on college football’s biggest stage, however, rushing for 1,322 yards on 204 carries and 17 touchdowns with the Crimson Tide last season.

First-round pick Datone Jones is the Packers' only remaining unsigned rookie from the 2013 draft class.
