Armonty Bryant is having to answer questions quickly about his off-field conduct following a DUI arrest just one week following the NFL draft. The Cleveland Browns took a calculated risk drafting Bryant, who had two off-field issues while in college.

The Cleveland Browns are forced to address off-field questions about one of their draftees before the team’s mini-camp.

According to Ohio.com, Bryant blew a 0.098 (the legal limit is 0.08) when pulled over by police in Ada, OK. Any off-field issue is concerning, but it’s exacerbated when related to Bryant, as he was already a high-risk prospect in April’s class. He was charged with a felony for attempting to sell marijuana to an undercover officer, but despite this issue the Browns were convinced he learned from his mistakes, as head coach Rob Chudzinski told the media on April 27th:
“Looking into his background with coach Cullen out there, as well as our scouting staff, we felt like [Bryant] is past the mistakes he has made and ready to move on,”
The Browns were unwilling to make a statement in response to Bryant’s reported arrest, waiting until they had more information.
The Browns had hoped that Bryant would factor into Cleveland’s new-look defense along with first-round rookie Barkevious Mingo. The seventh round pick was a Division II standout at East Central (OK) where he finished his college career with 26.5 sacks.
