Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Jason Peters was arrested for drag racing and resisting a police officer by flight on Wednesday, according to Tabby Soignier of USA Today Sports. Peters was arrested in the early morning after Deputy L. Deal observed a white Camaro, driven by Peters, apparently racing another car at about 4:45 a.m. in Monroe, La.

When the two cars started racing, the officer turned on the emergency lights. At that point, the car that Peters was allegedly racing pulled over, but Peters accelerated and fled down the interstate. According to the report, Peters pushed his car beyond 100 mph while the deputy was in pursuit, but eventually pulled over in a shopping center parking lot.

Peters was taken to Ouachita Correctional Center and was booked for drag racing and resisting by flight -- which is a fancy way of saying he ran from the officer when he initially refused to pull over. This is his second arrest in Louisiana, after being charged for disturbing the peace back in March 2011.

Peters is a five-time Pro Bowler, but missed all of last season season due to a torn Achilles tendon. He is slated for a starting role on the Philadelphia offensive line this season, though Philadelphia could be without him once again if this arrest results in some kind of disciplinary action from the NFL.
