Brandon Weeden struggled his rookie season due to an unfamiliar offense, a young receiving corps, and his own failings under center. However, the Cleveland Browns have plans to alleviate some of these issues as he enters his second year -- namely by lengthening his drops.
Brandon Weeden will get longer drops
New head coach Rob Chudzinski has plans to revitalize his second-year QB.

Mary Kay Cabot said in a Q&A for Cleveland.com, the the plan will be to give him more opportunities to succeed.
The new vertical scheme will feature more five- and seven-step drops, and the coaches have been working with Weeden on his footwork and speeding up his release.
New head coach Rob Chudzinski is using some of the same philosophies he did as offensive coordinator in Carolina to handle Cam Newton. He took the mechanically-suspect Newton and put him in situations to succeed by giving him more snaps out of the shotgun and greater chances to utilize his tight ends as safety valves.
While Weeden isn’t the same athlete, he is ahead of Newton in terms of passing mechanics -- and if he can shorten up his delivery it will pair well with Chudzinski’s propensity for a deep ball offense.
