Josh Brent back in jail after 2nd failed drug test

The Cowboys nose tackle, awaiting trial for one count of intoxication manslaughter, is back behind bars after failing a drug test.

Josh Brent is back in jail this week after testing positive for marijuana. This is Brent's second failed drug test since his arrest for intoxication manslaughter in December 2012. The failed test violates the conditions of his bond agreement for the incident that killed his teammate Jerry Brown, Jr.

According to court documents, Brent was drug tested on June 19 and the positive result was confirmed on June 25. That positive result put him back behind bars, the second positive test since Brent’s indictment.

Brent is currently awaiting trial after the December 8, 2012 crash that killed Brown and allegedly when the driver, Brent, had a blood-alcohol level of twice the legal limit while driving at speeds well over 100 miles per hour. Brent had been free on a $100,000 bond, but that freedom is now revoked following another positive test for marijuana.

He is currently still an official member of the Cowboys, with the mother of Jerry Brown asking the team to please not release Brent on account of the accident.

His next hearing was scheduled for July 19.
