New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is "doing well" after back surgery earlier in June, said teammate Justin Tuck on Friday. Tuck said that he and Pierre-Paul expect the Pro Bowl defensive end to be back in time for the Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 8. Pierre-Paul's initial estimated recovery time was a bit longer, so this is definitely good news.
NFL news roundup: Jason Pierre-Paul, Jason Babin getting healthy
Jason Pierre-Paul and Jason Babin are both nearing 100 percent in their recoveries.

Read on for more you may have missed from Friday:
Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Jason Babin is close to being completely healthy after undergoing groin surgery earlier in June. Babin is a starter and the Jaguars need him at full health, but it looks like he'll be back in time for training camp in late July, barring any setbacks. Babin says he's "about nine days out" from being 100 percent.
If you bought an Aaron Hernandez jersey prior to the tight end getting released by the New England Patriots due to his alleged involvement in the murder of Odin Lloyd, the Patriots will exchange it for free in July. On Friday, the team announced they are offering a free exchange on July 6 and 7. It's definitely the right move given the circumstances.
Ted Ginn Jr. is getting another shot at being a wide receiver in the NFL, this time with the Carolina Panthers. Ginn has fell short of expectations since being drafted in the first round by the Miami Dolphins. He has primarily been considered a return specialist after being given opportunities with Miami and the San Francisco 49ers. That said, after Steve Smith, the Panthers don't have much, so Ginn will be given another chance to get it right and show his stuff.
Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker made his name playing for the New England Patriots, but due to salary issues, departed for the Broncos in free agency, where he'll work with Peyton Manning. On Friday, Manning said that the Broncos plan to use Welker in the same way that the Patriots did, having him run the same routes to maximize his potential.
