Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie says Broncos first team to point out his flaws

Free agent acquisition Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is enjoying a new opportunity -- being told where he struggles.

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has experienced recent struggles after being named to the Pro Bowl in 2009. The former first-round pick was once seen as promising young corner with immense potential -- but now he's looking to get back to basics after being jettisoned by the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Broncos' willingness to tell Rodgers-Cromartie sold him on Denver in a signing period where teams were offering effusive praise -- according to the Bradenton Herald.

“They told me what I needed to work and how they would get me better instead of telling me about what I could do.”

This departure from conventional wisdom sold him on the opportunity to improve on a team in need of a developmental cornerback. The Broncos are still leaning on long-standing veteran Champ Bailey to be the answer in 2013 -- but that's a short-term option at best.

Rodgers-Cromartie has been shuttled around since his Pro Bowl year. He was traded to Philadelphia as part of compensation for quarterback Kevin Kolb, and was believed to be part of a dominant triumverate on the Eagles along with Asante Samuel and Nnamdi Asomugha. The experiment didn't work, making him a free agent this year.
