It looks like Denver Broncos executives Matt Russell and Tom Heckert will receive "severe" discipline for their recent DUI arrests. Both executives were arrested for DUIs in a short amount of time, so it's likely both will earn harsher punishments than what is usually given by the NFL. Earlier on Wednesday, it was noted that they may face suspensions.

New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez said that he's not worried about the battle with Geno Smith for the starting gig, saying he's going to win it. Sanchez has struggled in recent years, and has yet to post a completion percentage of even 57 percent over the course of a single season. Still, Smith is pretty raw so Sanchez has a good shot at winning the battle, which is expected to last into the preseason.

The Detroit Lions and Matthew Stafford agreed on a three-year contract extension on Wednesday. Stafford still had two years remaining on his deal, but the extension will keep him with the team into 2017. The full deal is worth a whopping $76 million with $43 million guaranteed. Stafford and the Lions fell short of expectations last season, but this new deal re-affirms the teams belief in him as their franchise quarterback.

DeMarco Murray has been dealing with injuries over the past couple seasons and his status heading into the late July training camp has been in question. That said, the running back said that he would be "100 percent, ready to go" for the beginning of training camp on Wednesday. Murray has the chance to be the top back on the roster in Dallas, he just needs to remain healthy.

The Cincinnati Bengals released defensive end Jamaal Anderson on Wednesday. Anderson did not perform to expectations, and with Michael Johnson set to play this season on a franchise tag, the Bengals needed the money elsewhere. Defensive linemen Geno Atkins and Carlos Dunlap also will need new contracts soon, so Anderson was the odd man out.
