The New York Jets have placed six players on their active Physically Unable to Perform list, chief among them wide receiver Santonio Holmes, according to their official twitter.
Jets place Santonio Holmes on Active PUP list
New York’s star wideout isn’t quite ready for action after undergoing two surgeries to fix his ailing left foot.

The other five players on the list are cornerbacks Darrin Walls and Mike Edwards, safety Rontez Miles, and defensive linemen Junior Aumavae and Jake McDonough. These players all count against the 90-man roster limit.
Holmes is still on the mend from Lisfranc surgery after injuring his foot early last season. Holmes was only able to play in four games before having to shut down for the year, making 20 catches for 272 yards and one touchdown in that time.
On the PUP list, Holmes is eligible to be activated whenever he’s medically cleared to practice. Should he still be on the list when the regular season begins, he’ll be ineligible to play the first six weeks.
Without question, Holmes is the top target for Mark Sanchez. The other name receivers are Jeremy Kerley and Stephen Hill, both somewhat unproven at this point.
