Brad Smith, Bills restructure contract, per report

Buffalo and Smith agreed on a re-worked contract to keep both sides placated.

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

The Buffalo Bills and wide receiver/kick returner Brad Smith have come to terms on a restructured contract, according to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post. The terms of the new contract have not been released yet.

Buffalo originally signed Smith away from the New York Jets two years ago, giving him a four-year deal for $16 million. However, things haven't worked out as well as the Bills hoped, making the restructure of this contract very likely.

In his two seasons with Buffalo, Smith has produced 37 receptions and 392 yards with three touchdowns. In 2012, Smith had 496 yards on 18 kickoff returns, scoring once on an 89-yard jaunt to paydirt.

With the Jets, Smith was a jack-of-all-trades, used in a variety of packages including the wildcat. The ex-Missouri Tiger was always a threat to throw, considering his college history as a quarterback.

Smith’s best season was in 2010, when he amassed 1,432 return yards and two touchdowns for Gang Green.
