The Seattle Seahawks have not yet approached wide receiver Golden Tate for a contract extension, ESPN's Chris Mortensen noted on Tuesday. Tate is entering the final year of his rookie contract and had a relatively productive 2012 campaign, but the Seahawks added Percy Harvin via trade this offseason and Tate should have a diminished role. Sidney Rice and Harvin figure to be the starters, but Tate should at least get some time to convince either Seattle or, more likely, the rest of the teams in the league that he deserves a new contract.

Here’s what else you might have missed from Tuesday.
The Oakland Raiders are set to pay a $3 million settlement to former quarterback JaMarcus Russell. The team and Russell have been having a dispute over guaranteed money that was still in Russell's contract when the team released him prior to the 2011 season. The two sides were set to go to court, but they reached this settlement in advance of doing so.
Speaking of the Raiders -- running back Darren McFadden is trying to be a more vocal leader this season. McFadden is the best weapon the Raiders have on offense, and represents much of the hope for that team to actually pull out some wins next season. McFadden said that he needs to be a leader and a motivator, and given the young talent on that offense, what he says is definitely true.
The Denver Broncos made Ryan Clady their franchise player with the intention of getting him signed to a long-term extension. The deadline to sign franchise players to a multi-year deal is July 15, however. On Tuesday, reports stated that the Broncos are looking to make a new offer to Clady next week. Clady has been one of the best tackles in the NFL since entering the league, but is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, which might be giving the Broncos pause.

Hopefully this looming deadline is the catalyst for real substantive talks over the next two weeks. Peyton Manning needs the best blindside help he can get to finish his career a Bronco.
Titus Young did not appear at his court date for the second time, but the judge excused his absence once again. Young missed Tuesday's court date because he is undergoing treatment for concussions suffered during his time in the NFL. If Young misses his next appearance, the judge will have him arrested, however. Young faces 11 charges, including four felony counts of burglary and a count of vandalism.
