The San Francisco 49ers intended for Anquan Boldin to be the No. 2 option behind Michael Crabtree when they traded a sixth-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens to acquire the veteran receiver. But when Crabtree went down with his Achilles injury, Boldin became the No. 1 receiver and the 49ers are definitely hurting for options behind him.
Colin Kaepernick leaning on Anquan Boldin in 49ers training camp
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is depending on Anquan Boldin to pick up the slack while Michael Crabtree is injured.

Fortunately, Boldin is performing well in training camp. According to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area, Boldin is shining during camp, developing into quarterback Colin Kaepernick's "go-to guy." On Tuesday, Kaepernick hit Boldin on several big passes, including a deep post against rookie safety Eric Reid and a pass that traveled at least 35 yards in the air.
That would definitely cover the kind of catches that Crabtree made for Kaepernick last season. Boldin will likely take part in more training camp practices than the veteran has for the Ravens in recent seasons, due to the fact that he’s new to the team and that the 49ers are adjusting their expectations for him.
Boldin managed to put up 921 yards and four touchdowns last season, and has had over 1,000 yards in five separate seasons over his 10-year NFL career. That said, there is definite wear and tear on him, and he’s been injury prone in the past. Developing a rapport with Kaepernick is the first step, but staying healthy is the second.
Behind Boldin, there are multiple receivers jockeying for position, including Kyle Williams, Chad Hall, Quinton Patton and A.J. Jenkins. Mario Manningham is also expected to have a prominent role, but he is recovering from injury, while the rest of the receivers are relatively inexperienced as a whole.
