Percy Harvin injury: Seahawks expected to place WR on PUP list

With his latest injury, Harvin is looking at a lengthy recovery well into the season.

The Seattle Seahawks are very likely to place wide receiver/kick returner Percy Harvin on the Physically Unable to Perform list, according to NFL Network's Albert Breer. Breer also reports the team plans to keep Harvin on the PUP list well into the regular season.

Harvin was diagnosed earlier this week with a torn labrum in his hip, requiring months of rehabilitation following surgery. The timetable for his recovery is uncertain, but most estimates have it at three to four months. Should everything go perfectly, Harvin would likely be able to play sometime in November.

If Harvin remains on the PUP list beyond Aug. 31, he won’t count toward a roster spot for the first six weeks of the season. However, he then has the next five weeks for practicing before having a three-week period to rejoin the 53-man roster.

Seattle traded for Harvin this offseason, sending the Minnesota Vikings its first-round pick of the 2013 NFL Draft along with a seventh-round selection and a mid-rounder in 2014. Last year with the Vikings, the former Florida Gators standout amassed 677 receiving yards and 574 yards on kick returns despite playing in only nine games.

In his four-year career, Harvin has scored at least one return touchdown in each campaign.
