Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Anthony Spencer says he will play in the team's regular season opener against the New York Giants, but he's going to need a couple more weeks to rehab his left knee, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Anthony Spencer injury: Cowboys DL in rehab for 2 more weeks
The well-known lineman will need more time to recover before making his presence felt on the field.

Spencer had surgery on his knee July 26 and expected to be out part of the preseason, but now the Cowboys lineman might miss the entire preseason. While not ideal, Spencer says it’s certainly not something he’s worrying about provided he’s back on the field when games begin to matter.
“I’m just focused on getting healthy,” Spencer said. “I still can’t do a lot of running around and stuff, the stuff that I want to do, so I don’t feel very encouraged right now. I’ve still got a little bit of time, so I’m working on getting healthy.”
“I’m hoping I can do some stuff for the preseason, but if I can’t, I can’t,” Spencer said. “I’m just going to take my time and get healthy.”
Spencer is a major part of the Cowboys’ defense, especially being one of the veterans who is making the switch from a 3-4 to 4-3 system under new coordinator Monte Kiffin.
Last year, Spencer racked up 11 sacks and 95 tackles, earning him a tidy $10.6 million this year on the franchise tag.
