A solid quarterback battle might be brewing in Buffalo, as coach Doug Marrone announced Kevin Kolb will start on Friday against the Minnesota Vikings in the second game of the preseason.
Kevin Kolb to start at QB for Bills on Friday
Kevin Kolb is ready to make his case as the starting quarterback for the Buffalo Bills after coach Doug Marrone announced he will make the start on Friday against the Minnesota Vikings.

Kolb joined the Bills hoping to rejuvenate his career after he was cut by the Arizona Cardinals in the offseason, but took a step back when he slipped on a wet mat during practice in early August. He returned to full practice this week and will get a chance to prove himself on Friday.
He'll need to make a convincing case against the Vikings to get Marrone's eye after both E.J. Manuel and Jeff Tuel tore up the Indianapolis Colts' secondary, 44-20, last week. Manuel, the Bills' first-round pick in the 2013 draft, finished 16-for-21 for 107 yards and a touchdown. Tuel added his own exclamation mark, ending the game 19-of-23 for 212 yards and two touchdowns.
Buffalo Rumblings pointed out that Kolb’s injury was just about the worst timing possible, but that a strong second preseason game will force the issue into the third preseason game.
Manuel did not run away with the job when Kolb was away from the team (nor did he do much to prove he’s not ready for the challenge), but a strong close to the week from Kolb could make this battle far more interesting heading into the all-important third preseason game.
Kolb played in six games with the Arizona Cardinals last year, throwing for 1,169 yards and eight touchdowns against three interceptions. He signed a two-year contract worth $6.1 million this past offseason.
