NFL preseason 2013 odds: Lines for Steelers vs. Redskins

Vegas is giving the Redskins a slight edge heading into their preseason showdown against the Steelers on Sunday.

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Redskins play in Sunday's only preseason game, which means if you have a NFL gambling addiction, there's only one way to lose your money. Hooray! The Redskins opened as 2½ point favorites over the visiting Steelers, but the line has tightened up since. Two major sports books now have the line even, and it's around one in most of the others.

Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers passing attack will get their second shot at figuring out life without Mike Wallace. With Plaxico Burress' season, and possibly career, over after a torn rotator cuff, it will be up to Emmanuel Sanders, Antonio Brown and Jerricho Cotchery to serve as the primary pass-catchers this year. After it was reported that rookie running back Le'Veon Bell would make his Steelers debut this weekend, a setback to a sore knee that kept him out of the preseason opener has recast doubt on his availability. Bell, the team's second-round draft back in April, re-aggravated the injury in practice on Thursday, and rumors point to an MCL sprain.

No, we still won't get to see Robert Griffin III this weekend, and likely won't until the regular season. There are several other key story lines to pay attention to for the Redskins, however, the chief among them being how the team will handle its ever-shrinking depth at the safety position. Rookie Phillip Thomas is likely done for the year after tearing a ligament in his foot against the Tennessee Titans last week, and with Brandon Meriweather still working his way back from an ACL injury last season, only Reed Doughty and DeJon Gomes are fully healthy.
