Sidney Rice returns to Seahawks after medical treatment in Switzerland

After a seemingly miraculous trip to Switzerland, the Seahawks wideout is reportedly ready for preseason action.

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

After a rehab trip to Switzerland, a wide receiver Sidney Rice has returned to Seattle Seahawks training camp, and could possibly be available as early as the team's preseason opener, according to reports.

Rice, who had been struggling with an injury to his knee, traveled to Switzerland to undergo a non-surgical procedure earlier in the week. It’s unclear exactly what that procedure was, but as NFL.com’s Chris Wesseling points out, players have been known to travel to Europe for a blood-manipulation treatment known as Regenokine.

Whatever the Swiss did to Rice, it seems to have worked, which is good news for a Seahawks team already missing top receiving threat Percy Harvin, who recently underwent surgery to repair his injured hip and whose return remains unclear. The Seahawks acquired Harvin through a blockbuster trade with the Minnesota Vikings prior to April's NFL Draft.

Also a transplant from Minnesota, Rice has been a mild disappointment in his two seasons in Seattle, recording a combined 1,232 yards and nine touchdowns, less than the single season total of 1,312 and eight during a 2009 campaign that made him one of the most alluring names on the 2011 free agency market.
