Colin Kaepernick wraps up solid preseason; fantasy value high

Colin Kaepernick wrapped up a solid, interception-free preseason on Thursday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Harry How

The San Francisco 49ers just wrapped up a preseason in which they went 3-1, and while you can't say they made it to the regular season without injury, things could be much worse. Starting quarterback Colin Kaepernick made it through with no injuries, and that's the biggest thing to consider heading into Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers.

The second-biggest thing? Kaepernick looked pretty darn good.

Playing in all four preseason games, Kaepernick took 40 snaps altogether, and completed 15 of 24 passes for 171 yards, two touchdowns and most importantly: no interceptions. He ran the ball a little, and also didn’t get sacked at all in the preseason.

Kaepernick is on the rise as one of the premier young quarterbacks in the league, leading the 49ers to the Super Bowl after taking over for Alex Smith this season. That said, there's always that small chance that he goes in the other direction in his second year, but his solid preseason is a good indication that he's going to do just fine this season.

Fantasy Impact: Getting through with no interceptions and no injuries is about all you can ask for in the preseason. Kaepernick looked good, and fantasy owners should definitely draft him with confidence. Sure, he doesn't have Michael Crabtree, but he has Anquan Boldin, Vernon Davis, and Quinton Patton just might be a sleeper, as well.
