Bryan Bulaga is likely out for the season, with sources telling Pro Football Talk that the Green Bay Packers offensive tackle has suffered a torn ACL. Bulaga suffered the knee injury during a training camp practice Saturday evening when he went down hard during the first series of scrimmage. He was able to take the remainder of the Packers' first-team snaps, but was later rumored to have suffered a torn ligament.

Bulaga was set to take over the Packers' starting left tackle spot after moving from right tackle in the offseason. Marshall Newhouse was practicing as the team's starting right tackle in training camp after starting as the Packers' left tackle the last two seasons, and may soon be on his way back to the left side following Bulaga's injury. Rookie David Bakhtiari is currently listed behind Bulaga, but the Packers may not feel comfortable trusting Aaron Rodgers' blind side to a first-year player.

Bulaga may still seek a second opinion, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, but the news looks bad. According to Packers blog Acme Packing Company, the team has dealt with similar situations before.

If there’s a silver lining to Bulaga’s injury, it’s that the Packers have the entire preseason to find a replacement. Last season, Bulaga injured his hip mid-year and forced the Packers to adjust on the fly, taking several weeks before finally settling on Don Barclay. But make no mistake, losing Bulaga for the entire 2013 season throws a monkey wrench in the Packers’ championship aspirations.
